Description of the genus

Hemiparasitic shrubs, with simple hairs and a single haustorial attachment. Leaf lamina characteristically thin in texture. Flowers in pedunculate umbels, often standing up like candles from the horizontal branches; bract unilaterally developed. Corolla 4-lobed; tube split unilaterally with a V-slit, papillose inside.

Worldwide: 25 species in tropical Africa

Zimbabwe: 3 taxa.
