THYLACHIUM Lour.

Description of the genus

Shrub or small tree. Leaves simple and/or 3-foliolate. Inflorescences of corymbose racemes. Calyx entire and closed in bud, rupturing transversely on expansion. Petals 0. Stamens many in a column. Ovary on a long gynophore. Fruit indehiscent, with 8-10 longitudinal ribs.

Worldwide: 10 species in eastern and SE Africa and Madagascar

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
