Description of the genus

Perennial herbs or shrubs, usually densely stellate-tomentose. Stipules linear, Leaves crenate-serrate or entire. Flowers yellow. Sepals 5, free almost to base. Bracts of the epicalyx 3, persistent. Stamens 5, alternating with 5 conspicuous staminodes. Ovary sessile, 5-locular. Stigmas 5, linear. Fruit a loculicidal capsule.

Worldwide: 60 species in the tropical Old World

Zimbabwe: 9 taxa.
