Description: |
Densely tufted perennial grass. Base bulbous, silky-hairy, the outer sheaths with broad flat ribs (0.5-1.1 mm across). Culms up to 150 cm. Lamina 1-5 mm wide, broadly linear, rolled upwards, tapering gradually to the apex. Inflorescence digitate, mostly 2-4 racemes (sometimes more); racemes up to 25 cm long. Spikelets 4-7.5 mm, sometimes with transverse purple stripes. Upper glume membranous with appressed-ciliate margin, sometimes winged; upper lemma with a 1.5-3 mm awn. |
