Description:
Caespitose perennial. Culms 100–300 cm high. Leaf laminas 1–3 mm in diameter, terete, the midrib represented by a slender yellow line on the adaxial surface. Panicle 20–50 cm long, linear to narrowly ovate, bearing racemes 2–8 cm long. Spikelets 3–5 mm long; callus beard 1/4–1/3 the length of the spikelet. Inferior glume pilose to villous. Superior lemma bidentate, with a weakly geniculate awn 2–10 mm long
