Description: |
Caespitose perennial. Culms 40–120 cm high, erect. Leaf laminas 3–8 mm wide, appressedly pubescent, acute. Inflorescence of 3–12 racemes each 5–12 cm long, silky with white or violet hairs. Spikelets 5–7 mm long, lanceolate. Inferior glume shallowly concave on the back with 2 intercarinal nerves, light brown, glabrous or sparsely villous, ciliate on the keels above, minutely truncate. Inferior lemma 4–7 mm long, membranous below, hyaline above. Superior lemma bifid for 1/3–1/2 its length, with an awn 10–20 mm long. |
