Description: |
Densely caespitose perennial with scaly rhizome; culms up to 200 cm high; leaf laminas 10–50 cm × 3–10 mm, glaucous, prominently nerved, tapering to a setaceous point. Inflorescence terminal, of (1)2–5 (rarely more) subdigitate racemes, each 6–20 cm long; rhachis internodes and pedicels glabrous to villous, yellowish to purple, subequal, the internodes clavate, the pedicels subinflated. Sessile spikelet 5–8 mm long, lanceolate; inferior glume chartaceous, 2-keeled along its whole length, concave between the keels, glabrous to villous on the back, wingless; superior lemma with an awn 5–20 mm long. Pedicelled spikelet 1–6 mm long, awnless or rarely awned from the superior lemma. |
