Description:
Terrestrial herb 30–40 cm tall. Leaves 4–7, mostly concentrated near the base of stem, 10–17 cm long, upper ones bract-like; margins more or less wavy. Inflorescence up to 15 cm long, densely several- to many-flowered; bracts 12–14 mm long. Flowers semi-erect, green and white or yellow-green. Dorsal sepal reflexed, 5–6 mm long; lateral sepals obliquely obovate, 7–8 mm long, with lateral notch. Petals 2-lobed almost to base; upper lobe linear, 5.5–6.5 mm long, erect; lower lobe 10–11 mm long. Lip 3-lobed, with basal claw c. 2 mm long; mid-lobe 12–13 mm long; side lobes 7.5–8 mm long; all lobes linear; spur 18–23 mm long, S-shaped.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: galpinii: named for E.E. Galpin, South African naturalist and collector (1858 - 1941)
Habitat: In wet soil over rock, occasionally in Eucalyptus plantations.
