Description:
Fairly robust terrestrial herb, up to 60 cm. Leaves along the stem, longest near the base, sheathing higher up. Inflorescence fairly open, flowers borne horizontally; bracts slightly longer than the ovaries. Flowers pink to mauve with purple spots on the inside of the petals. Lip linear, up to 9 mm long, slightly widened near the apex.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: patula: spreading, extended; possibly referring to the lateral sepals that extend forward and outwards
Habitat: Montane grassland.
