Description:
Terrestrial herb, up to 25 cm. Leaves 2, opposite, ovate, dark green. Inflorescence usually 1-3 flowered. Flowers pale to deep pink, with darker markings in the hood, sometimes almost white. Dorsal sepal joined with the petals to form an broad, open hood. Lateral sepals spreading, each with a sac-like spur. Lip with limb and appendages glabrous.
Notes: This species can be similar to Disperis virginalis, which is mainly distinguished by having the limb and appendages of the lip papillose-hairy. In Zimbabwe, however, they usually appear fairly distinctly different with D. virginalis being consistently white and a narrower hood with more pronounced "horns" formed by the erect, pointed petals.

Habitat: In leaf litter or on mossy logs in evergreen forest. Also found in pine plantations.

Worldwide distribution: DRC, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
