Terrestrial herb 25-80 cm tall growing from a chain of conical subterranean pseudobulbs, c. 2-4 × 1-1.5 cm; leaves 4-8, up to 9 × 3 cm, grass-like, linear, usually absent or just starting to develop at flowering time; inflorescence laxly 5-9 flowered; scape with 1-2 sheaths; flowers spreading to semi-pendent, sepals purple-brown, petals cream to yellow with brownish veins, lip yellow with purple veining on side lobes; bracts 5-9 mm long, lanceolate, acuminate; ovary and pedicel 7-14 mm long, purplish; sepals all similar, spreading, linear, 15-18 × 1-2.5, acuminate; petals 8-10 × 2-3 mm, oblong to lanceolate-oblong, lying over column; lip 10-14 × 6-8 mm, 3-lobed; mid-lobe 5-8 × 3-4 mm with callus of 3 fleshy basal ridges and long papillae, side lobes erect, rounded or subacute in front; spur 3-5 mm long, conical to cylindrical, sometimes slightly swollen at apex, bent down about half way.
