Peperomia rotundifolia sensu FZ 9(2)
Common names:

Status: Native
Description:
Prostrate perennial epiphytic or lithophytic herb, often mat-forming with creeping stems up to 40 cm long. Leaves alternate, sometimes opposite near the end of the stems, elliptic to circular, up to 12 mm long, rather stiff and fleshy, sparsely puberulous on both surfaces; margin entire but slightly ciliate. Inflorescence terminal or lateral spikes, greenish.
Notes: The African species P. bangroana was treated as a synonym of P. rotundifolia in Flora of West Tropical Africa (Hutchinson and Dalziel, 1954) and in Flora Zambesiaca. However, on the basis of differences in the inflorescence, Mathieu, G. & R. Callejas Posada (2006) show that the African P. bangroana consistently differs from the New World P. rotundifolia and thereby treat it as a separate species.
