Description: |
Parasitic shrub, up to 1.5 m, with relatively short lateral hairless branches. Leaves mostly subopposite or alternate on long shoots and with smaller, rounded leaves clustered at the base of short lateral branches, lanceolate ovate-elliptic, 3-12 cm long, leathery, grey-green to blue-green, hairless, with 3-6 pairs of lateral veins, the lower ones more ascending; petiole 5-20 mm long. Flowers in 6-16-flowered axillary umbels or heads. Corolla 4-6 cm long, orange to red with a yellow band around the vents; tip darker and ribbed; basal swelling up to 9 × 6 mm, ovoid-ellipsoid, with the tube constricted for 2-11 mm above the swelling; lobes erect, 9-11 mm long, hardened inside, keeled outside. Stamen filaments inflexed. |
Notes: | This species is very similar to Agelanthus flammeus, a species almost exclusively found on Ficus spp. |

Habitat: | At margins of montane forest, in riverine forest and in high rainfall miombo woodland, found on Ficus, Bridelia and various legumes. |
