Description:
Erect or prostrate annual herb, branching near the base. Stems up to 60 cm, hairy and glandular aromatic. Leaves alternate, ovate to elliptic in outline, up to 3 × 2 cm, with 2-6 large lobe-like blunt teeth; actual margin glandular, entire to sometimes finely toothed. Flowers minute, in dense rounded sessile axillary clusters, greenish, velvety and glandular.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: carinatum: keeled, having a keel-like ridge, referring to the wing-like hairy keel on each perianth segment
Habitat: A well-naturalised weed of disturbed areas.
Altitude range: (metres) 580 - 1600 m

Worldwide distribution: Native to Australia. Introduced as a weed in southern Africa and Europe.
