Description:
Low spreading shrub, mostly less than 1.5 m tall, with short hooked thorns scattered along the branches; flowers creamy white short spikes; pods thin and papery, purplish to red-brown.
Notes: Restricted to the Central Watershed plateau.
Derivation of specific name: chariessa: graceful, elegant
Habitat: Mostly on serpentine but also on other soils.
Altitude range: (metres) 1000 - 1450 m
Flowering time:Dec - Feb
Worldwide distribution: Central Watershed plateau in Zimbabwe only.
Zimbabwe distribution: W,C,S
