Description:
Perennial herb, growing from a woody taproot. Stems prostrate, ascending or shortly erect, up to c. 40 cm long, with subappressed or spreading golden-brown or greyish hairs. Leaves 3-foliolate, with leaflets elliptic-lanceolate to ovate- elliptic, silky hairy on both surfaces; terminal leaflet up to c. 3 cm long, mostly 2.5-5 times as long as the petiole. Flowers in leaf-opposed 1-2-flowered inflorescences on 1-4(8) cm long peduncles. Calyx 5-9 mm long, densely hairy; corolla yellow, turning brownish-orange with age; standard up to 13 × 12 mm, densely hairy on the outside. Pods c. 25-40 mm long, oblong, flat, velvety.

Habitat: Submontane grassland and Miombo woodland.
