Description:
Small branched shrub, up to 1 m. Real leaves reduced to minute brownish scales, branches instead densely covered in green leaf-like modified stipules.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: aphylla: without leaves
Habitat: In quartzite grassland and scrub, often near streams.
Altitude range: (metres) 1150 - 1800 m

Worldwide distribution: Chimanimani Mts in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
