Description:
Herb with trailing or climbing stems growing from a woody rootstock; branches hirsute; leaves 3-foliolate, petiole (0.5)1.5-6 cm long, leaflets discolourous, 4.8-14.5 x 2.8-4.5 cm, narrowly ovate to narrowly elliptic, occasionally lobed, appressed pilose on upper surface, more densely appressed pilose on the undersurface; inflorescence a pseudoraceeme or panicle with 1-several flowers in each fascicle, the fascicles often more crowded towards the apex, pedicels 3-5 mm long; calyx 5-10(12) mm long, pilose with silvery hairs, 5-lobed, the upper two lobes tipped with (1)2 pedicellate glands1-3 mm long or glands absent; corolla 1-1.8 cm long, white to lilac; pods 1.5-2.5cm long, densely pilose, 1-2 seeded; seeds3-4 x 2 x 1 mm.

Derivation of specific name: holubii: after Dr Emil Holub (1847-1902), Czech author, physician, naturalist and explorer in Southern Africa.
