Description:
Small shrubby herb, 15–40 cm high, with numerous erect branches growing from a woody rootstock. Leaves alternate, sessile, crowded on the upper part of the branches, elliptic to narrowly ovate, 6–16 mm long, rigid, somewhat wrinkled, more or less densely silky hairy beneath, only sparsely so above. Inflorescences terminal or axillary in clusters of 1–4 flowers, sessile or very shortly stalked. Bracts 2–4, leaf-like, 7–8 mm long, silky hairy. Flowers 4-merous, pale blue, whitish or yellow. Calyx tube 4–8 mm long, densely hairy; lobes ovate, 2–2.5 mm long, hairy outside. Petals 8, linear, membranous, less than 1 mm long.

Habitat: On hillsides in rocky montane grassland.
