Description:
Slender annual herb, up to 35 cm, usually less. Stems mostly simple, sometimes with a few ascending branches. Leaves opposite, increasing in size upwards on the stem, ovate to oblong, pale green with appressed hairs on both surfaces, 3-5-veined from the base; margin entire to finely crenate-dentate with the teeth ending in a bristle. Flowers in terminal clusters, usually surrounded by 4 leaves, pale mauve to pink; anthers yellow; style red.

Habitat: In moist places in shade in a wide variety of habitats.
