Description:
Large forest tree to 35 m high. Branchlets not or slightly lenticellate, glabrous. Leaves: petiole 3-8 mm; lamina 5-12 × 2-5 cm; elliptic or narrowly elliptic; apex acuminate; base cuneate, glabrous on both sides. Inflorescence 3-11 cm long, axillary, although sometimes appearing terminal, lax, many-flowered. Flowers 4-merous. Sepals equal, ovate. Corolla white, glabrous outside, densely hairy within; tube very short; lobes 4-5 times as long as the tube. Stamens exserted. Pistil glabrous. Fruit 12 × 10 - 18 × 18 mm, 1-seeded. Seed flattened, ellipsoid.
