Description: |
Low-growing succulent perennial. A dwarf form has been recorded from the lower Save Valley. Branches greyish-green, mottled darker green with long softly spine-like teeth. Flowers star-shaped, 6-10 cm in diameter with corolla tapering to a long point, lemon-yellow, spotted with purple; lobes often fringed with paddle-shaped purple hairs. |
Notes: | Although listed as Critically Endangered in Southern African Plant Red Data Lists (Mapaura & Timberlake in SABONET Report No. 14, 2002), this status is incorrect as it appears to be fairly widespread and frequent. It has been recorded from all divisions in Zimbabwe as well as the Okavango Area in Botswana and the Caprivi Strip in Namibia. |
