Common names:
Status: Very doubtful
Small succulent perennial, up to 12 cm high, forming clumps up to 30 cm in diameter, rarely more. Stems decumbent to suberect, grey-green, sometimes mottled with purple, 4-5-angled with tubercles broadly deltoid, spreading, 3-8 mm long. Inflorescences 1-3-flowered, per stem on pedicels 8-12 mm long, spreading to hold flowers horizontally. Corolla 20-28 mm long and 20-40 mm in diameter, bell-shaped; outside smooth, cream to pink with 3-5 raised veins on each lobe; inside papillate, cream, finely spotted with red-brown or maroon, forming concentric lines in the lower half of the tube. Corona 5-6 mm tall, without a basal stipe; outer lobes spreading at the base of the tube, emarginate, maroon; inner lobes 3-4 mm long, cream spotted with pale maroon, erect, connecting and diverging towards the dark-tipped apex.
Notes: There is a record from Southeastern Zimbabwe listed in Mapaura & Timberlake, 2004 (Sabonet 33: 21). It is based on a labeled specimen at SRGH. However, both the variability within the subtaxa of the closely related Huernia hislopii and the long distance between this record and the nearest population of H. longituba, make it likely this name is in error.
Derivation of specific name: longituba: long-tubed, referring to the long corolla tubes of the flowers.
