Description:
Erect to spreading annual 3-18 cm high, with simple 4-angled stems especially in small specimens, branching when larger. Leaves opposite, sessile, broadly ovate to elliptic-oblong, 8-20 mm long, 3-7-veined from the base, mostly hairless or sparsely glandular-pubescent, often purple-tinged; margin shallowly toothed to almost entire on the lower leaves. Flowers in lax terminal and lateral racemes on pedicels up to 3 mm long. Calyx 4-5 mm long with spreading linear lobes 3-4 mm long, minutely glandular-pubescent. Corolla yellow to orange-yellow, purple-tinged on the upper lip. Capsule globose-ovoid, 3-4 mm long, shorter than the calyx.
Notes: One of the few species in Linderniaceae with yellow flowers.

Habitat: On wet soils in open grassland and woodland.

Worldwide distribution: DRC, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
