Description: |
Perennial climber with prostrate or scandent stems up to 7.5 m long, growing from a tuberous rootstock. Tendrils simple. Leaves 1.5-7.5 cm long, ovate in outline, unlobed or shallowly 3-5 lobed, somewhat roughly hairy, deeply cordate at the base; margin with sinuate teeth. Flowers unisexual on the same plant; male flowers in pedunculate 2-8-flowered clusters; female flowers solitary; yellow to deep orange, paler on the outside. Fruit narrowly spindle-shaped, 2.5 - 10 cm long green with cream stripes, yellow when ripe. |
