Description: |
Erect annual, 0.1-1.2 m. Leaves opposite, the upper alternate; petiole to 2 mm; lamina 3-13 × 1-5.5 cm, elliptic, serrate, gland-dotted, both surfaces finely pilose-strigose or glabrescent. Involucre 3-8 × 4-10 mm. Phyllaries numerous, scarious; inner to c.8 mm, acuminate to aristate. Achenes 1.2-1.5 mm, narrowly obovoid-oblong, pale brown, with 4-5 low, broad ribs. Pappus of a few caducous barbellate setae 1-3 mm. |
Notes: | It is superficially somewhat similar to Ageratum conyzoides and often grows with it, but it has phyllaries of very different lengths and which therefore overlap one another, whereas A. conyzoides has phyllaries which are all ± the same length. |
