Description:
Low annual herb with a long taproot and radiating prostrate branches, up to 25 cm long. Leaves spathulate to oblanceolate, up to c. 2.5 cm long, thinly grey-woolly on both sides. Capitula solitary at the end of branches. Involucral bracts c. 9-seriate, up to 7 mm long, silvery white, turning pink at the centre. Florets yellow, often pink-tipped, turning brown with age.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: argyrosphaerum: with a silver sphere; referring to the white rings of involucral bracts.
Habitat: Widespread in sandy areas in open woodland and grassland, often in disturbed soil or as a weed of cultivation.

Worldwide distribution: Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Northern Province, Freestate, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape, South Africa.
