Notes: | There appears to be some confusion about the distribution range of this species and its occurrence in Zimbabwe. In existing literature it is said to occur only as far South as Mt Mulanje in Malawi (Beentje, 2002; Lisowsky, 1989). Hiram Wild, in his unpublished draft revision for Flora Zambesiaca (1980), only mentions one specimen from Stapleford Forest (Brain 9343, SRGH). However, a substantial number of specimens from Eastern Zimbabwe at SRGH, originally identified as H. cf. buchananii, have all been relabeled by Wild as H. goetzeanum and seem to match this species very well. This also appears to be true for the specimen in the above images. Awaiting further information we have for now accepted H. goetzeanum as occurring in Zimbabwe. |
