Description:
Annual herb to 60 cm. Leaves: petiole up to 1.5 cm; lamina up to 6 × 3.5 cm, ovate; margin crenate-dentate to subentire. Peduncle hairs usually short, c. 0.2 mm long, appressed-ascending, intermingled with a few glandular hairs. Capitula c.5 mm in diameter. Receptacular scales usually 3-lobed, the central lobe the largest. Pappus of very narrowly ovate scales, fringed with hairs, without a terminal projection.
Notes: This species is quite similar to G. quadriradiata. See that species for a discussion of the differences. Furthermore, we have italicised the principal differences in the descriptions.
Derivation of specific name: parviflora: small-flowered
Habitat: In disturbed ground, such as gardens, roadsides, stream sides and in woodland.
Altitude range: (metres) 1370 - 1660 m
Flowering time:Sep - May
Worldwide distribution: Native of South America, but well naturalised in tropical, subtropical and even temperate areas of the world.
