Description:
Erect perennial, 30-100 cm. Stems glabrous. Leaves 3-5 × 1.5-2.5 cm, elliptic or oblong, sessile, slightly succulent, glaucous; apex acute to rounded, sometimes shortly apiculate; margin entire or with 1-2 shallow teeth. Inflorescence of few-fld lax corymbs. Capitula 10-11 mm. Phyllaries 14-16, 5-7 mm. Rays present, yellow. Ovary glabrous.
Notes: The synonym suggests that this species is like an Othonna. Unfortunately, the material of our species of Othonna, namely natalensis, was absent from SRGH on 11 Jan. 2007. However, the one specimen from South Africa shows a rather different-looking plant.
Derivation of specific name: ruwenzoriensis: from the Ruwenzori Mts
Habitat: In vleis and damp places, often in shallow soil over rocks. Also recorded from msasa and mopane woodland, grasslands and roadsides.

Flowering time:Oct - Apr
Worldwide distribution: Nigeria to Sudan and southwards through East Africa to South Africa
