Description:
Perennial herb with annual stems growing from a rootstock. It belongs to a group of closely related species, including Senecio latifolius, S. retrorsus and S. pergamentaceus. All are erect perennial plants with glaucous, elliptic leaves, which clasp around the stem. S. venosus can be distinguished from the other species by holding a leaf against the light, which will reveal the clearly translucent veins.
Notes: Unlike S. latifolius, S. venosus is not known to be poisonous to life stock.
