Description:
A tiny but very distinct species. less than 8 cm tall. Leavea 2, sprading horizontally and almost flat on the soil, dark olive-green, 3-3.5 cm long, quite densely covered small tubercles on the upper surface. Inflorescence fairly lax.
Notes: This little plant is unlike anything we have seen before. It does not appear to even remotely match any specimen we have seen at SRGH or BR. It seems to be similar to Ledebouria parvifolia S. Venter, which was described fairly recently from Mpumalanga in South Africa (Venter & Edwards 1998).
Derivation of specific name:
Habitat: Growing in otherwise bare quartzite sand in the shelter of an overhanging quartzite rockface in the lower Chimanimani Mountains at c. 1325m. Flowering at Christmas time during the rainy seaon.
