Frequency:	Rarely naturalised
Status:	Introduced, probably of horticultural origin.
Description:	Erect glandular-hairy perennial, 1-2 m tall. Leaves: petiole as long as the leaflets, often with a spine at the base; lamina 5-7, narrowly elliptic; apex acuminate. Flowers in racemes. Petals 2.5-4 cm long, pink or violet, sometimes white, distinctly stalked. Fruit 5-15 × 0.3 cm, cylindric, glabrous.
Notes:	This species has been included in the cultivated section, although there are as yet no specific records.
Derivation of specific name:	houtteanum: probably after Louis Benoit van Houtte (1810-1876), Belgian horticulturalist.
Habitat:	In the case of the two records so far, on a lake shore.
