Description of the genus

Unarmed trees with rusty-tomentose young shoots. Stipules very small, caducous. Leaves 2-pinnate; specialised glands on petiole or rhachis 0. Leaflets alternate. Inflorescence of small flowers in an elongated, pendulous, catkin-like spike, usually aggregated into a panicle. Calyx lobes 5, ± connate below. Petals equal, 5. Stamens 10. Pod indehiscent, elliptic, flattened, coriaceous.
