Annual or short-lived perennial herb with single, procumbent or suberect stems. Leaves opposite, linear-lanceolate to elliptic. Flowers on long peduncles in axillary few-flowered inflorescences, white, pale blue or mauve with soft hairs on the throat and corolla. |
| Notes: | Very similar to var. minor but can be distinguished by differences in the style and less funnel-shaped flowers. The distribution of the two varieties does not seem to overlap in Zimbabwe. |
