Description:
Perennial herb with short annual unbranched stems, up to 40 cm, growing from a slender creeping woody rhizome. The inflorescences are 1 to 3 flowered, axillary in the lower nodes, sometimes flowering before the leaves appear. (image 2). Flowers greenish-white to yellow.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: stenophylla: narrow-leaved
Habitat: A species of open grassland, vlei margins and edges of Brachystegia woodland, particularly in areas subjected to annual burning. A typical pyrophyte, growing and flowering after the ground has been burnt.
Altitude range: (metres) 1250 - 2150 m
