Description of the genus
Deciduous woody climbers. Leaves imparipinnate; leaflets 9-19; margin entire. Inflorescence of pendulous simple racemes. Calyx 5-toothed; the upper partly fused, the lower 3 longer. Standard large, reflexed, bearing 2 appendages at base; wings falcate; keel obtuse. Pod 2-valved, flattened. Derivation of name: After Caspar Wistar, 1761-1818, professor of anatomy at the University of Pennsylvania. Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon. |
