Description of the genus

Annual herbs, up to 30 cm high with a single erect stem. Leaves alternate, cauline, 1-3 pinnately lobed margins usually dentate, blade ovate. Capitula radiate, usually single. Involucre hemispheric; phyllaries persistent, distinct, oval; Receptacles convex to hemispheric; ray florets 10-21; corollas mostly yellow. Fruit an achene.

Worldwide: 2 species native to Eurasia and North Africa

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
