| Description: | Tree, to 40 m. Leaves 15-22 cm, light green, in bundles of 3(-5), pendulous; basal sheath persistent. Female cones 7-10 cm, ovoid-conic, slightly curved, lateral, subsessile, in clusters of 2-5. Seeds 5 mm, triangular; wing 12-20 mm. |
| Notes: | This species has become naturalised in many areas, particularly in the Eastern Highlands and is now an invasive pest along forest margins and in high rainfall woodland. Pines increase the acidity of the soil, which may seriously threaten the indigenous biodiversity. |
