Mimosa procera Roxb.
Common names: White siris (English)
Description: Tree to 12 m. Young branches glabrous or subglabrous. Leaves: pinnae in 2-4 pairs; leaflets with 5-11 pairs per pinna, 1.5-6 cm, asymmetrically oblong to elliptic, appressed-hairy. Flowers sessile, whitish in globose heads; stamen filaments up to 1.5 cm. Pods 8-16 × 1.5-2 cm, glossy, reddish-brown, dehiscent, the raised portions over the seeds resembling rivets.
Notes: Well naturalised in two moist low-lying areas in division E, namely the Honde Valley and the Tanganda River valley. Also known as a cultivated tree on farms in the Banket area of northern Zimbabwe.

Worldwide distribution: Tropical and subtropical Asia as far as Australia.
