| Description: | Evergreen shrub or small tree. |
| Notes: | It is grown as a garden ornamental, as a hedge and for its edible fruits. It is known as an occasional naturalised escape, but is not invasive in Zimbabwe but may become so if not controlled. In parts of South Africa, it is a declared weed, invading edges of forest, riverbanks and open spaces in urban areas. It is not at all clear whether the records for this species in FZ are of cultivated plants or naturalised escapes. For the time being we have taken the species as cultivated only in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia and both cultivated and escaping in Zimbabwe. |
