Description:	Small to medium-sized tree, to 8 m. Branches not pendulous. Leaves pinnate; leaflets typically 7-9, oblong, acuminate. Fruit red, turning purple.

Derivation of specific name:	terebinthifolius: with leaves like those of Pistacia terebinthifolius.

Worldwide distribution:	Native of Brazil; widely cultivated in warm regions and naturalised in some parts of the world.
