Description of the genus

Plants epiphytic or lithophytic. Rhizome short-creeping with membranous bracts. Fronds monomorphic. Stipe short, without grooves or ridges. Lamina simple, pinnatifid or shallowly to deeply lobed or serrate; hydathodes absent or obscure; minute hairs present on both sides. Lamina differentiated into a serrate, sterile, bottom part and an entire, fertile top part. Sori confined to the lamina apex.

Worldwide: 16 species confined to the neotropics

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
