Description of the genus

Dioecious tree. Leaves alternate, stipulate, digitate, stellate-hairy. Inflorescence paniculate, axillary near tips of branches, male inflorescences larger than the female. Male flowers: sepals 4-5; petals 5; disk of 4-6 fleshy glands; stamens 15-21 (in ours). Female flowers: sepals and petals as male; ovary 1-2-locular (in ours); styles 1-3; 2-partite. Fruit indehiscent with woody endocarp.

Worldwide: 1 species in tropical and South Africa

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
