BiographyCathy Sharp kindly provided the following information about Proffesor Ndlovu on 5 November, 2014: Proffesor Ndlovu is a Forestry Commission Scout who is particularly familiar with the flora of the Miombo-Teak forests of the Matabeleland North Province. He was assigned to me while I was sampling different plots of miombo-teak woodland for a global mycorrhizal project. His presence as an armed scout was much appreciated in the areas where elephant, buffalo and lion roam as I had to be focused on collecting soil samples, not watching out for predators! His knowledge of the siNdebele names for the vegetation within my plots was an enormous help as I was able to cross-reference his names with those in Lin Mullin's botanical checklist. Aware of his botanical knowledge and interest in my mycological work, I particularly requested that Proffesor accompany Meg and me on this Kalahari Sands trip. He really is an asset to the Forestry Commission. |
