Caespitose perennial up to 100 cm tall, stout to moderately slender, erect or geniculately ascending; ligule a short membrane; leaf lamina 14–26 cm × 2–3 mm, linear, flat or folded, long-attenuate at the apex.Inflorescence 30–48 cm long, narrowly cylindrical; racemes numerous, very slender, 2–13 cm long, flexuous, erect or loosely ascending.Spikelets 4–5-flowered, 2.5–3 mm long, narrowly elliptic-oblong, not overlapping or only slightly so; glumes unequal, the inferior 0.7–1 mm long, ovate, acute to obtuse, the superior 1–1.5 mm long, broadly elliptic to oblong, obtuse or rounded; lemmas 1.2–1.4(1.6) mm long, elliptic-oblong, keeled, densely but minutely pilose along the nerves, entire or minutely 2-toothed at the apex.Caryopsis 0.6–0.9 mm long, elliptic-oblong, plano-convex in section |
