Description: |
Tufted perennial. Culms 30–140 cm. high. Leaf laminae 2–15 mm. wide, one margin crinkly. Panicle 5–30 cm. long, contracted, the branches glabrous to villous. Spikelets 7–14 mm. long. Inferior glume 1/2 as long as spikelet, glabrous to pubescent, obtuse to acute. Inferior lemma 5–7-nerved. Superior lemma 9-nerved, pilose at base with a row of 8 tufts across the back, acutely bilobed, with an awn 7–15 mm. long; palea keels winged to midway, the wing terminating in an auricle. |
