Description:
Small perennial, less than 30 cm, growing from bulbs. Leaves strap-shaped, c. 25 cm, mostly absent, sometimes present at time of flowering. Flowers 1-10, bright yellow with a short tube and spreading lobes.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: breviflorus: short flowers
Habitat: In submontane grassland, along rivers and marshes, often after fires.
Altitude range: (metres) 1000 - 1800 m

Worldwide distribution: DRC, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
