| Notes: | There has been long term confusion between this species and H. uhehensis, which it closely resembles. Based on specimens at the National Herbarium in Harare (SRGH), H. silvatica has been said to occur in Zimbabwe (Grosvenor, 1976; Fibeck & Dare, 1993; La Croix et al., 1991). More recently (La Croix & Cribb, 1995), it has been suggested that, according to the original description of H. silvatica by Rudolf Schlechter, specimens from northern Zambia are the only ones from within the Flora Zambesiaca area, which belong to that species. Specimens from Zimbabwe all belong to H. uhehensis. It must therefore be concluded that H. silvatica is not a Zimbabwean species. |
