Description: |
Terrestrial herb, up to 1 m tall. Leaves overlapping along the fertile stem, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, shortly sheathing at the base. Inflorescence 15-40 cm long, many-flowered. Bracts lanceolate, pointed as long as or overtopping the flowers. Flowers facing down, variable in colour, often more or less deep purplish on the outside of the hood and the base of the lip, greenish to silvery-white on other parts. Dorsal sepal deeply hooded with a more or less horizontal, cylindric spur, 1-2 cm long arising from the middle, decurved near the apex. Lateral sepals spreading. Petals more or less distinctly 2-lobed, 8-10 mm long, lying within the hood. Lip pendent, 5-10 mm long, fleshy. |
